GAME LIST &
HISTORY
The game list may
be slightly outdated and could use a
little reorganization. I'm working on it. Feel free
to tell me what I'm
missing, though. :)
Luigi's origins may differ slightly depending on the source of
information. I'm trying to put together something
general based mostly on the games, but
I'd like to expand on it a little in the
future.

History
Okay, okay... It is really
hard to find any factual information about Luigi. I've tried. I've
searched the web and mailed Nintendo. Apparently, there isn't much
to find. But still, I'll tell you what I know. Luigi first appeared
in Mario Bros. I assume they were looking for another five-letter Italian
name to compliment "Mario," but that's just speculation. If anybody
out there knows for sure, please drop me a line.
It is generally accepted that Luigi's
favorite color is green and that he is quieter and less aggressive than Mario.
He's shy and gets scared easily. According to the instruction manual for Mario Party, Luigi is more
intelligent than Mario. He is also the younger brother.
According to Yoshi's Island, Mario and Luigi are twins, though before
that I had always assumed that there were at least a few years in between
them. Obviously, whoever wrote the Super Mario Bros. movie thought
the same way. Though the movie didn't portray the game to my liking,
I thought that the portrayal of Luigi was kinda cute. But that's just
me. Maybe I just like John Leguizamo. ::shrugs:: But anyway,
if they are twins, Luigi is the younger one.
Anyway, Luigi grew up with Mario in Brooklyn,
New York, and the two became involved in the family plumbing business.
The two accidentally ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom (in a parallel universe)
most likely due to a freak plumbing accident. You know, those funky
pipes that seem to be everywhere. I guess one of them lead to Earth,
and, well... plop. So, Luigi and Mario receive a message that the people
of this kingdom are being turned to stone and the princess is being held
captive at the hands of the evil Koopa King, Bowser. The heroic boys
that they are, Luigi and Mario offered to lend a hand and defeated Bowser
and saved the princess, Peach. Bowser, being stubborn, and Peach, being
unlucky (though not completely helpless), let this process continue quite
a few more times. Of course, the Mario brothers were always there to
save the day.
